The vakantiehuis.be website presents the holiday homes of two independent owner families: Maisons de Vacances and Chalets Hautes-Fagnes. Each family manages its own properties, bookings and contact with its guests.
This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how long we keep it and how you can exercise your rights. It applies the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, EU Regulation 2016/679) and the Belgian Act of 30 July 2018.
In short: your data is processed by the family offering the holiday home you view or book. It is never sold, nor passed on to the other family.
Who is responsible for your data depends on the holiday home concerned. For everything relating to the website itself (browsing, cookies), both families act as joint controllers (Article 26 GDPR); the Maisons de Vacances family is then your point of contact.

Given their size and the nature of their activity, neither family is required to appoint a data protection officer (DPO).
We only collect what is needed to answer your request and organise your stay.
We do not ask for any sensitive data (health, beliefs, etc.). Please do not include any in free-text messages.
Each use rests on one of the legal bases set out in Article 6 GDPR.

We make no automated decisions about you and carry out no profiling.
Your data is only seen by the family offering your holiday home. The website’s administration is partitioned: one family has no access to the other’s enquiries or bookings.
We use service providers who process some data on our behalf, under contract and following our instructions:

We also pass data to public authorities when the law requires it (tax administration, police, municipality). We never sell or rent out any data.
Your data is hosted in the European Union. Microsoft, Google and Cloudflare, all US companies, may access it from the United States. These transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (Commission adequacy decision of 10 July 2023) and by standard contractual clauses.
We keep your data for as long as necessary, then delete or anonymise it.

Without your consent, the website only uses strictly necessary cookies. All others wait for your choice in the banner shown on your first visit.

You can change your mind at any time using the “Manage cookies” link at the bottom of every page. Refusing external cookies does not prevent you from booking; only the maps stay hidden.

Security. The website is served over HTTPS. Access to the administration is password-protected and limited to those who need it, with each family seeing only its own data. If a data breach puts you at risk, we will inform you and the Authority within the legal deadlines.
Minors. Bookings are for adults only. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Updates. We may change this policy as the website or the law evolves. The date of the last update is shown below.
